A design objective for this site was to make the content accessible to people with disabilities. Combined with other techniques, the separation of content from presentation and adherence to HTML and CSS standards mentioned above serve not only to make the site compatible with the broadest possible range of web browsers, but also render it accessible to assistive technologies such as screen readers and Braille browsers. The site can be navigated and used without need of a mouse, and all pages
- meet at least Conformance Level A of the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) published by the World Wide Web Consortium

The key font used on this site is Verdana, a sans serif font designed specifically for viewing on screen. If your browser supports CSS and you have Verdana installed on your computer, it will be used to display text. If not, your browser will substitute another font. Microsoft once allowed you to download Verdana for free from its web site, but no longer does so. However, most Microsoft applications for both PC and Mac — including Internet Explorer — are shipped with Verdana and other fonts included.
All web sites look better if fonts are smoothed or anti-aliased (that is, the "jaggy edges" are removed from rounded parts of letters). Later versions of Windows are already equipped for font smoothing; consult your Windows Help file to find out how to turn font smoothing on. If you find that you need the Windows 95 font smoother, you can download it for free from Microsoft. If you are a Mac user, OS8 and higher smooths fonts automatically.
Printing
If you are using an up-to-date browser that supports Cascading Style Sheets well, you will find when you print a page that it is automatically stripped of unnecessary graphics, navigation menus, etc. If you are using an older browser, it will print in something like the way you see the page on screen.
